Established in 1965, the Housing Industry Association is Australia’s largest residential building organisation. Members include builders, trade contractors, design professionals, kitchen and bathroom specialists, and manufacturers & suppliers. HIA is the only national industry association for all building professionals, representing the interests of the whole housing industry - from trade contractors, builders, and suppliers through to product manufacturers.

The Good Environmental Choice Label is the only environmental labelling program in Australia which indicates the environmental performance of a product from a whole of product life perspective for consumer goods. The label is awarded to products that meet voluntary environmental performance standards which have been created and assessed in conformance to international environmental labelling standards.

The Green Building Council of Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that was launched in 2002 and is uniquely supported by both industry and governments across the country. The GBCA’S mission is to develop a sustainable property industry for Australia and drive the adoption of green building practices through market-based solutions through promoting green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations.

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) is a joint initiative of all levels of government in Australia and includes representatives from the building industry. The Board was established in April 2006 and its mission is to address issues relating to health, safety, amenity and sustainability by providing for efficiency in the design, construction and performance of buildings through the BCA and the development of effective regulatory systems.

Sustainability Victoria was established to show Victorians how to use resources more efficiently and reduce their everyday environmental impact. The site gives infomration on The Victorian Energy Efficiency Target, a legislative requirement placed on energy retailers through the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007. The website also contains information on The Insulation Rebate program which provides rebates for the insulation of ceilings in Victorian homes that do not already have ceiling insulation.

The Australian Business Council for Sustainable Energy Accreditation Scheme was created in 1993 to ensure a consistently high standard of Design and Installation practice around Australia. All personnel who hold accreditation with the BCSE have demonstrated their competence to design and install renewable energy systems in compliance with industry best practice standards and all relevant Australian Standards.

The Sustainable Energy Development Office was established in November 2001 by the State Government to implement the Government of Western Australia’s sustainable energy policy. The SEDO plays a vital role in accelerating the adoption of renewable energy and energy-efficient strategies across all sectors of the community, from business and industry to government and the general public.

The Department of Water and Energy was created in 2007, and incorporates most of the functions of the former Department of Energy, Utilities and Sustainability, water-related functions of the former Department of Natural Resources as well as the Metropolitan Water Directorate from the former NSW Cabinet Office.

NATSPEC, founded in 1975, is a not-for-profit organisation that is owned by the design, build, construct and property industry through professional associations and government property groups. NATSPEC's major service is the comprehensive national specification system endorsed by government and professional bodies.

The Building Products Innovation Council (BPIC) is the national body representing Australia’s building product associations. BPIC’s mission is to promote the most efficient and innovative use of building products within a nationally consistent regulatory environment and regards the Building Code of Australia as the pre-eminent national regulatory framework for building.

BASIX, the Building Sustainability Index, ensures homes are designed to use less potable water and be responsible for fewer greenhouse gas emissions by setting energy and water reduction targets for house and units. BASIX is an online program that is free and accessible to anyone.

The Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS) is recognised nationally and internationally as the peak professional body representing Building Surveyors in Australia The AIBS’s mission is to promote and develop the professional standing of Members, while contributing to health, safety and amenity of the built environment.

Established in 1933, NAIMA is a trade association of North American manufacturers of fibre glass, rock wool and slag wool insulation products. NAIMA’s role is to promote energy efficiency and environmental preservation through the use of fibreglass, rock wool, and slag wool insulation products and to encourage safe production and use of these insulation products.

The European Insulation Manufacturers Association was established in 1959 and represents the interests of all major mineral wool producers throughout Europe. Its members manufacture a wide range of mineral wool products for the thermal and acoustic insulation and fire protection of domestic and commercial buildings and industrial facilities.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is an independent statutory authority that formed in 1995. The ACCC promotes competition and fair trade in the market place to benefit consumers, business and the community. It also regulates national infrastructure industries. The Master Builders Association is Australia’s major building and construction industry association and Australia's oldest industry association, founded in the early 1870s in Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle.

NABERS (the National Australian Built Environment Rating System) is a performance-based rating system for existing buildings. NABERS rates a commercial office, hotel or residential building on the basis of its measured operational impacts on the environment.

The Department of Climate Change was established on 3 December 2007 as part of the Prime Minister and Cabinet Portfolio. The Australian Government is committed to ensuring Australia meets its responsibilities in facing the global challenge of climate change. The Australian Acoustical Society (AAS) was formed in 1964 to promote and advance the science and practice of acoustics in all its branches to the wider community and provide support to acousticians.

The Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors' Association of Australia (AMCA) is an organisation of air conditioning and mechanical services companies who have come together to represent and promote the industry along with the well being of the companies. It was founded in the 1960’s and is the only industry and employer association that is exclusively dedicated to the air conditioning and mechanical services industry.

The Association of Wall & Ceiling Industries Queensland represents the interest of its members in the building and construction industry. AWCIQ provides industrial relations, training and occupational health and safety services to members, and also enables members to present a combined voice in dealing with manufacturers, suppliers and unions on any issue affecting their businesses.

The Thermal Insulation Contractor's Association of Australia (TICA) is the national body representing specialist contractors, distributors and suppliers involved in the commercial and industrial insulation and encapsulation industries.

The Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA) represents building and design professionals who specialise in assessing the environmental impact of buildings.

As an alliance of dedicated contractors and suppliers, the Metal Roofing and Cladding Association of Australia Limited represents the interests of the metal roofing industry as a whole.
